Considering the short amount of time a Caregiver program takes; a relatively wide range of topics are taught at the institute. The Caregivers College program is divided into 120 hours this way – Theory + Hands-on Training + Clinical Practicum. The program is scheduled to be 4 weeks in class and 2 weeks in a practical setting.

On top of that, aspiring Caregiver will learn by being hands-on in a practical work setting. Along with classroom studies, the Caregivers student will learn many practical skills for patient care. They will receive instruction in health care terminology, and instructors will demonstrate how to perform tasks such as: bed making, skin care, dressing, patient undressing among others.

Through the articulated program, the institute is able to keep the aspiring Caregivers up to date on the latest techniques, so that they can deliver the best possible care to their patients.

Module 1: Introduction to Caregiving

a. Role and Responsibilities of a Caregiver
b. Ethics, Confidentiality, and Professionalism
c. Understanding Patient Rights & Dignity
d. Communication Skills with Patients & Families

Module 2: Basic Anatomy & Physiology

Classroom study in a Caregivers program typically includes anatomy and physiology courses. This module will focus on the following:

a. Overview of Body Systems (Respiratory, Urinary, Digestive, Nervous, Musculoskeletal, Cardiovascular, etc.)
b. Common Age-Related Health Conditions
c. Recognizing Signs of Illness & When to Seek Help

Module 3: Personal Care Assistance

Due to the nature of the work of a Caregiver, procedures for dealing with patient excretory functions are included in the course of study. The Caregivers will be required to define and explain terminology associated with elimination procedures, and should be able to identify urinary and digestive systems. They will also learn the proper way to handle specimens and describe the collection of the specimen.

This module will also focus on the following:

a. Bathing, Grooming, and Dressing
b. Oral & Dental Care
c. Toileting & Incontinence Care
d. Bed Baths & Perineal Care

Module 4: Mobility & Safety

a. Safe Transfer Techniques (Wheelchair, Bed, Toilet)
b. Fall Prevention & Proper Use of Assistive Devices
c. Body Mechanics to Prevent Caregiver Injury

Module 5: Nutrition & Meal Preparation

a. Special Diets (Diabetic, Low-Sodium, Dysphagia, etc.)
b. Feeding Techniques for Dependent Patients
c. Hydration & Malnutrition Prevention

Module 6: Medical Support & Vital Signs

a. Measuring & Recording Vital Signs (BP, Pulse, Temperature, Respiration)
b. Recognizing Emergency Situations
c. Infection Control & Hand Hygiene

Module 7: Chronic Conditions & Specialized Care

a. Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care
b. Diabetes Management
c. Stroke Recovery Support
d. Parkinson’s & Arthritis Care

Module 8: Emergency Preparedness

a. CPR & First Aid Training (Certification)
b. Choking Rescue (Heimlich Maneuver)
c. Fire & Disaster Safety

Module 9: Emotional & Mental Health Support

a. Managing Stress & Caregiver Burnout
b. Dealing with Grief & End-of-Life Care
c. Activities to Improve Mental Well-being

Module 10: Legal & Documentation Basics

a. Patient Care Documentation
b. Understanding HIPAA & Privacy Laws
c. Caregiver Contracts & Liability

Module 11: Clinical Practicum (Hands-On Training)

a. Supervised care in a healthcare facility or home setting
b. Real-life scenarios & role-playing
